12-1cHave you considered human intervention if there is a significant ripple effect and high uncertainty due to the AI system’s decision-making?• Human intervention can be necessary when an AI system controls the system operation using decisions by the AI model or provides information that can affect people’s safety and environment. This has a big ripple effect on the operation and functions of the AI system, which means the uncertainty of the AI model’s decision is high.
• This kind of trend is especially prominent in automated and autonomous systems using an AI model; hence you must consider direct or partial human intervention—other than exception handling and security mechanism—to relieve uncertainty of the AI model.
• For instance, in autonomous vehicles, the ability to intervene and hand over control to the driver may be considered when an AI model that detects obstacles ahead and adjusts its course gives unclear or uncertain results.
